Formerly Chair of Catholic Theology at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, NB, Dr. Topping studied philosophy, classics, and theology in Winnipeg (M.A. in philosophy at the U. of Manitoba) before taking his M.Phil. and D.Phil. in theology at Oxford. He served as a postdoctoral fellow in Catholic Studies at St. Thomas More College in his home-town of Saskatoon, Canada, and has taught at the University of Oxford, at St. Thomas More College, and at Walsh University, in Ohio. Dr. Topping has published on a variety of Catholic themes and figures, from Augustine, to Dante, to G.K. To date he has published three books, one on Plato’s dialogue, Phaedo, and another on Augustine’s philosophy of education; a third book, Happiness and Wisdom: Augustine’s Early Theology of Education, recently came out with Catholic University of America. His forthcoming study of the Catechism, Lazarus Rising: The Catechism and the Renewal of Catholic Culture, is set to be published early this winter. In the meantime, this summer Dr. Topping, his wife, and five young boys re-located to the NH area where they are happily settling into their new home.
